Celebrating the Sámi National Day |

February sixth is the national day of the Sámi people, the indigenous population of Northern Norway and Arctic Europe. It is celebrated in memory of the first Sami Congress in Trondheim in 1917. Lyngsfjord Adventure joins the Sámi people in their celebration.

The new year has brought nice winter conditions to Camp Tamok to the enjoyment of both guests and dogs! 2011 has been a very successful year indeed, and we would like to extend a warm thank you to all our guests, friends and partners. A whale has been visiting the fjord of Lyngen for several weeks this autumn. During one of our fishing-trips, the whale broke the surface just 20 meters from the boat. A truly great experience!

Lyngsfjord Adventure Marketing Director Hans-Olav Eriksen attended Arena Nord 2011 on September 21st. Arena Nord is the largest meeting point for commercial actors involved with tourism operations in northern Norway. The session was attended also by the Norwegian Minister of Transport and Communications, Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa. Hans-Olav held a presentation which focused on the challenges related to adventure tourism in the Arctic wilderness: This included our positive experiences, as well as the challenges involved in providing safe adventures in an Arctic setting.

Lyngsfjord Adventure's wilderness camp - Camp Tamok - is situated in the picturesque valley known in Norwegian as Tamokdalen. The success of the company relies upon the good will of the local population, and we have enjoyed a very good relationship so far. To acknowledge this fact Lyngsfjord Adventure held an "open day" at Camp Tamok earlier this Summer. The event was attended by between 60 and 70 people, and included a tour of the camp and serving of coffee and Norwegian waffles.
A good time was had by all, thanks for attending!
