If you do one of our excursions you can choose to stay on and spend your night in a lavvu (Sami herdsmen’s tent) in our wilderness camp. Spending the night “outdoors” in a Sami tent is an Arctic experience in itself. Our skilled guide takes care of you, making sure you are safe and comfortable at all times. You will sleep in our warm sleeping bags, on top of several reindeer skins. Breakfast is included. You do not have to bring any luggage or equipment with you. However, we can store your luggage during your overnight stay, so that you do not need a hotel room in town at the same night. In the period May-July there is 24 hours of daylight. Of course, you do not have to go to sleep right away in the light night. Experience the never-ending Arctic summer day. Enjoy, feed the fire and drink your coffee or tea made in the main Sami tent. After spending the night, you may also choose to transfer directly to one of our daytime services in the morning, starting at approx 10:15. We pick you up by bus or minibus in the city centre of Tromsø, by the Rica Ishavshotel. The city centre is very compact so you will easily find Rica Ishavshotel and the pick-up point. We transport you a 75-minute drive out in the wilderness, to Camp Tamok. The camp is the starting and ending point for your excursion.
