Husky Wagon Drive PDF Print E-mail

Yes it is actually possible to go “dog sledding” in the summertime. The excursion takes place in the wild Tamok valley. Say hello to a bunch of barking huskies that are ready for action (but still very friendly). The husky wagon drive starts with meeting the dogs and preparing for the trip. You will get detailed instructions on how to drive a husky wagon.  Then you drive the huskies into the wilderness, a total distance of  approximately 8 km. The area where you lead the wagon is totally uninhabited. The Tamok Valley has a fantastic landscape. The strength of the dogs will impress you. On flat stretches the huskies will go for it, letting you glide through the landscape. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each wagon, with opportunity to switch places half way.To conclude the adventure you will arrive at Camp Tamok. At this beautiful wilderness camp you will be served a hot meal inside a lavvu (Sami herdsmen’s tent).

We pick you up by bus or minibus in the city centre of Tromsø, by the Rica Ishavshotel. The city centre is very compact so you will easily find Rica Ishavshotel and the pick-up point. We transport you a 75-minute drive out in the wilderness, to Camp Tamok. The camp is the starting and ending point for your excursion.
