The glacier hiking takes place in the world renowned Lyngen Alps – a chain of steep and high mountains surrounded by fjords. You need no previous glacier or hiking skills to participate. An introduction to glacier hiking will be held before the activity, with special focus on safety. Our experienced guides will accompany you on the spectacular Steindalen Glacier. First there is a 2-3 hour hike up to the glacier. On the glacier you will hike in a rope team, meaning that for your safety you will be connected to each other by a long rope. You will wear helmets, ice axes and crampons attached to your shoes. During this exciting tour you will gain an insight into the fascinating Sami and Kven cultures, and the areas unique geology. Two meals are included during the hike. Tempo and routes will be adjusted according to your previous skills and fitness. However, to participate on a hiking trip of this length you must have normal physical health. We pick you up by bus or minibus in the city centre of Tromsø, by the Rica Ishavshotel. The city centre is very compact so you will easily find Rica Ishavshotel and the pick-up point. We transport you a 75-minute drive out in the wilderness, to the Lyngen Fjord.
